How To Get (And Stay) Motivated To Do The Cleaning
Okay so honest question here. Hands up who loves cleaning all of the time? Hmmm just as I thought. While I certainly do love housework, I still do have to admit that there are times where I just have no will to get up and clean. Sometimes it's like trying to climb Mount Everest. Sometimes the lure of the couch or your bed is just too strong. It is times like these that you really need to call out the big guns. So with that in mind I've come up with this quick list of fun ways that you can get motivated and try and inject a little bit of fun back into your housework.
So the first thing you must do is make a list. This is probably the simplest but most powerful piece of advice I can give you. When you have a checklist of everything that you want to clean in a particular room, you can tick things off as you go. This gives you a strong sense of accomplishment and can push you to keep going. Seeing things get ticked off the list as you go is such a fantastic feeling. So that's the first piece of advice I'll give you. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough.
My second top tip for you is to play some of your favourite music. Really relax and get yourself in the mood. Music has been shown to help people push harder in the gym and lets be honest, cleaning can be just as strenuous as a gym workout. So put in your favourite album turn up the volume and get down and dirty.
The third point on my list of of advice is to reward yourself. Treating someone after they do something good is a great way to reinforce that positive behaviour and it also works on yourself too. So reward yourself after completing a certain number of tasks on your to-do list. That will keep you motivated and eager to get to the next reward milestone too! Good ideas for rewards are allowing yourself to watch an episode of your favourite TV show. Try not to make them unhealthy treats like chocolate bars, sweets and cakes though! Otherwise that would just be counter-productive.
My final piece of advice is of course to get somebody to help you. You don't have to do it on your own. This is especially important if you have kids. Let's be honest, they are almost certainly the reason why the place is so messy in the first place. So get them involved. If they are younger this is very easy to do. Just turn cleaning into a game. I'll probably write an article about this exact subject in the future because it would require one just to explain it all.
So there you have it. Sometimes it can be tricky to get yourself in the right frame of mind to clean your home. But I'm hoping that this article has provided you with some great ideas to get yourself motivated to clean. Don't forget to like and share this article please. So until next time, see ya!
